Diversity & Inclusion
Our commitment to the value and promise of a better future is more important than ever.
We have the unique opportunity to make meaningful impact in our own lives and in the lives and communities around us. In the coming year we must:
- Take efforts to grow, not stagnate;
- Embrace our differences, not fear them;
- Open ourselves to difficult discussions, not ignore them.
Diversity and Inclusion Committee
UIU recently established a Diversity and Inclusion Committee that will help lead us in these efforts. The committee, as currently structured, includes representation from student life, academics, athletics, centers and online.
Upper Iowa University’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee is committed to promoting and facilitating social justice, diversity, and inclusion by embracing, enhancing, and celebrating diversity and inclusion at all levels of the University and the surrounding communities. UIU defines diversity beyond race and disability; we embrace one’s culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, religion and thought, and seek to attract and serve a diverse and inclusive group of employees and students. UIU and our Diversity and Inclusion Committee recognize that diversity and inclusion are fundamental to the quality and excellence of the faculty, staff, and the student body.
